The benefits of colostrum

Moments after giving birth a mother will usually remove the milk from her breasts (ASI). However, in some cases, there are mothers who breastfed issued since pregnant. The first breast milk is usually called colostrum, which can be produced since a few days before birth until 4-5 days after birth. About 10 days after birth the mother will issue regular milk.
In the past, usually the first milk out of it is often discarded because it is not good for babies. But it is the first milk that is most beneficial for babies. Colostrum is rich in protein and minerals. It also contains less fat and sugar. In this initial milk there is no content of casein, a protein commonly found in normal milk.
Colostrum color more yellow than the color of regular milk, and calorie content was lower. High levels of protein in cow caused by a number of globulin (simple proteins), which resembles a gamma-globulin in blood plasma.
Role of colostrum milk gives immunity to the infant against a number of infectious diseases. Colostrum also provides for the formation of immune stimulation. Therefore, breastfeeding should be directly given to the baby as soon as possible after the baby is born.
